Welcome to the 7th International Conference of the African Association of Remote Sensing of the Environment (AARSE)-2008

You are cordially invited to participate in the AARSE 2008 International Remote Sensing Conference in Accra, Ghana. AARSE conferences are well attended by professionals, researchers, educators, and students from African countries as well as different parts of the world. The major theme of the conference include:
Application of Earth Observation and Geoinformation for Governance in Africa.
Participants shall discuss the role of Earth Observation technologies and Geoinformation Sciences in production of affordable geospatial data sets for good governance driven development and environmental sustainability
The WHEEL OF PROGRESS, with six spokes symbolizing the six community capitals- natural, physical, cultural, social, economic and human. At the core of the wheel is sound natural resources management and sustainable environment, which is the goal of the millennium. A nation’s capacity and capability for attaining the goal rests on the six assets.
The Accra Conference will demonstrate the use of Remote Sensing and satellite image-based products supported by Communications Technology and Spatial Data Infrastructure for resolving the data shortage for Africa’s recovery, planning and development of the six capitals.

Accra International Conference Centre is situated opposite to the Parliament House, with ready access to Accra International Airport and first-class hotels. It has six conference halls: the main hall (seats 1600 delegates), two committee halls (each seats 205 delegates), and three meeting halls (each seats 50 delegates). The conference centre is furnished with audio visual equipment to facilitate presentation and simultaneous interpretation.
